What is the Weather on the Mountain Right Now?
At the moment, there are no real time weather conditions available for Mount Everest. Approximately ten years ago, a weather station was present on the South Col of Everest that would give real time readings, however the conditions on the mountain were so harsh that the station did not survive (unfortunately, part of the problem, reportedly, included theft of weather equipment from the station as well). In preparation for the Olympics, current plans suggest the Chinese government will be installing a weather station on the north side of the mountain later this year. Whereas live readings of weather do not exist today, a good estimate of the current conditions is possible via Michael Fagin; his estimates are being posted on our main Weather page.
